Holograms for the future. At least in this confident filmmakers of Hollywood, filling his fantastic movies translucent interfaces, floating in the air. Like the ones that were on the spacecraft in the "passenger" and "Avatar."
However, while we can see the three-dimensional graphics only on screens using 3D-glasses, or VR-helmet. But a startup Look Glass of Brooklyn has created a device that step brings us closer to a full 3D-reality without any additional gadgets.
Take a look at this. It may seem that in front of you just a glass aquarium, which is incomprehensible red thing. But actually it is the display, and the object inside - rendered them a picture. The Looking Glass uses innovative technology: it creates 45 different images of the same volumetric object, the rotated at different angles, and then combines them by passing through a singular holographic lens. This creates the impression that you see the real three-dimensional object.
Such a device would be incredibly useful for creators of 3D-graphics, game developers, industrial designers and engineers. The Looking Glass is compatible with programs such as Maya, Zbrush, Blender, Tinkercad and Solidworks. It allows to consider their results directly in the process. And besides, you can interact with the image, as with the conventional material thing. To do this, you can connect the handheld tracker Leap Motion Controller, Intel Realsense camera or game controller, such as Joy Con from Nintendo.
In the future, this technology may become popular among gamers and ordinary consumers of digital content. Would not it be fun to play in something or watching movies on this screen. With Looking Glass, in order to consider the action with any hand, it will be enough simply to transfer to the other corner of the room.
For operation of the display will need a computer with processors Intel Core i5, 4GB random access memory and graphics card Nvidia GTX 1060 at least, and an HDMI port for displaying images and USB-C for power. The display will be available in two sizes: 8.9-inch model for $ 600 and the 15.9-inch for 3000 dollars.
Buy smaller version of The Looking Glass can be on Kickstarter for $ 400. Approximate delivery time - December.
