Ninth of September Apple has made slight rebranding in the names of their new products. Watches, a presentation which have all long been waiting for, is not called iWatch, as previously assumed, but merely Watch (Apple Watch), getting rid of the «i» the letters before the word. The same fate befell the iPay, which took place the first letter of a bitten apple logo. It is likely, it soon will affect the rest of the company's products, and therefore, in order to keep up with the trend and write corporate name products from Cupertino right, let's see how this can be done especially on OS X, and iOS.
If you have long been familiar with the "Macs", you probably already know what kind of keyboard shortcut is responsible for the Apple logo. Perhaps somewhere you have had to use a variety of non-standard characters in the correspondence with friends.
For those who have joined us recently, I will explain: to insert a logo with an apple, just press the combination of the three buttons Option + Shift + K. Thus, in the text of the desired image appears. The combination works in the English keyboard layout, so pay attention to it.
But what to do with iOS, which is not possible to press the cherished combination and with an apple symbol so want to insert into the text? We know that in addition to the optional keyboard "Emoji" in which there are different sets of icons, we can call and less-used letters of the alphabet. For example, if you press and hold the key with the letter "e", we can choose instead the letter "e." But even there, among other keys, no we need a symbol. Everything is decided in a few simple steps:
method 1
We will need the Mail application, through which we will draw up a letter to myself, where in the body insert the desired character. Please note that not all fonts support this symbol, therefore it is recommended to use, for example, Helvetica, where it is exactly there.
1) Open the Mail application on OS X and write myself a letter, in which the body is to insert a character with the Apple logo.
2) Send the letter from Mail.app on OS X, and in the preparation of opening on iOS.
3) Next, as you've probably guessed, the body copy of a letter sent by our character.
4) Go to Settings - General - Keyboard - New reduction ...
5) In the menu, in the "Phrase" insert copied from the mail symbol and for the field 'Reduction', enter any characters that you will be comfortable. I added «1apl».
6) Click the "Save" in the upper right corner of the screen.
All reduction set, you can check. Open any application where there is the ability to add text (such as Notes) and enter your preset reduction (in my case - 1apl). You will see how you instead of written text will be added to the symbol. Now you can use it in correspondence, or to send to friends who do not have the Mac, so that they can also use this icon.
method 2
This method is much easier than the first. However, the main condition for it is the fact that you have a computer with the operating system OS X and customized account with your Apple ID. Unfortunately, again on iOS Beta3 8 and OS X Yosemite DP3 was not possible, but I do remember that in the current versions of the operating system for this to work.
1) Go to System Preferences - Keyboard - Text.
2) Here we see several standard abbreviations, so all we need is to add a new one. Click the "+" at the bottom left of the screen.
3) In the "Replace" enter a combination that you will be comfortable. This «1apl» for me.
4) In the "Replace with" keyboard shortcut Option + Shift + K, to insert a character with an apple.
5) Close the settings and wait for a while to sync them to your account on iOS. After a while you will notice that when typing on a given OS X combination, on iOS is exactly the same replacement of your cuts on the icon.
Note that on Windows, the icon is not displayed in standard font, so you can not see it. Although, if you have the Windows, I think you do not want to use the icon in the correspondence. Or not? Share your opinion in the comments!
