Books / / December 19, 2019
Usually the phrase "influential person" means "man endowed with power and money." But the author of this book by Stephen Pierce (Steven Pearce) believes that a truly influential person - a professional and leaderWho is self-assured and whose actions command respect. I agree with the position of Pierce as possible to have an impact not only on a global scale (the world of big business and politics), but also, for example, in his team, his yard, his family.
Stephen Pierce
Managing Director Steven Pearce Associates and assistant manager The Results Consultancy. An experienced trainer and consultant, helping companies to develop their business and private customers - to persuade, influence and achieve their goals.
50 chapters - 50 life hacking
The book consists of 50 chapters, each of which has one life hacking... Frankly, in this context, the word "life hacking" several cuts my ears. Rather, it hints, tips, ways. So, in the book - 50 ways to bleed the skill of influencing people and circumstances. Influence - this is a skill. Leaders are not born, they become.
What do you know
In our time, we are valued not only knowledge but also the ability generate ideas based on them. If you can offer your company a special solution, your weight it will increase at times. If you find a promising business niche, you'll be in it a priori the most influential player.
The first portion of Pier Boards aims to teach the reader to generate ideas. Recommendations are not new, but a repetition, as we know, the mother of learning.
Someone you know
The next block is dedicated to networking tips. Ability to listen and hear people, unite them around, as well as being good for them - one of the most important components of influence.
It is important to note that this is not about manipulation or consumer attitude towards people (communicate only with those who are useful). Pearce talks about the basic principles of business communication: how to correctly build communication, how to win the respect of colleagues and friends, co-ordination and subordination rules and so on.
What are you doing
We are so accustomed to feel cheated that when we get extra something valuable - just like that! - it makes a huge impression. Establishing a distinction - one of the main keys to influence. If you offer a value that exceeds expectations, it will certainly distinguish you among colleagues and competitors.
In short, the recommendations of this part of the book are the following rule: Be the best of the best. Roger Federer in tennis, like Hitchcock's horror movies like Ford in mechanical engineering. Work hard, work hard, work well and do not notice how people will start to listen and reach out to you.
Who you are
This is the most I liked the book. It is dedicated to self-development and self-presentation. The author tells us about how to identify and highlight their strengths, how to make the right first impression, how to become a man of the people who will want to follow.
I do not aspire to be attractive to people. My job - to make them get better.
Steve Jobs
As you follow the rules
At the end of Stephen Pierce teaches some methods of "political game", such as the ability to negotiate, to keep a distance, to control the process and so on.
Pros and cons of the book
The book is definitely not boring. Written and easy to read. Quite a lot of examples and citations of prominent personalities. An interesting structure and layout. Decent work in the genre of social psychology.
My personal assessment of the book by Stephen Pierce "life hacking influential people" - 7 out of 10.
Some confused narrative slowness. Given the fact that some painted on dozens of pages of advice I have been known to sometimes get bored.
In general, the book will be useful to executives, managers, as well as those who dream of a career growth.
