Many of the applications installed on your Mac, asks the Internet to check for new versions, licenses and other things. When connected, they transmit a lot of data on the development server software that can use them for their own purposes. If you do not like it, Radio Silence can help.
This is a very simple utility that monitors all incoming connections initiated by applications, and lists them. If any of the apps without your knowledge trying to connect to their servers, then it can be locked.
