All supported smartphones should receive the update before the end of the year.
Today during the presentation of new smartphones And hours Google announced about the release of the Android 14 operating system, which she has been working on since February of this year. Pixel phone owners will be the first to receive it.
The main feature of the updated OS was the customization of appearance. The developers paid special attention to the lock screen, on which you can now customize different wallpapers, clocks, and displayed information. For faster setup there are ready-made templates. Users can also change application shortcuts.
Android 14 introduces a new monochrome theme that uses grayscale backgrounds for apps rather than the default wallpaper. Ultra HDR support is also on board. At the same time, the system now has a wallpaper generator based on artificial intelligence - you can simply enter a text description and the algorithms will create the desired image. At first, this feature will only be available on Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones.
The update also includes some new security features. For example, deeper support for passkeys, protection of sensitive data, and auto-verification of the six-digit lock screen PIN. Additionally, the system comes with a built-in Health Connect platform that stores health data directly on the device, similar to Apple Health.
Other Android 14 features include improved Google Camera support, separate ringtone and notification volume controls, flash alerts, and more.
The update has already begun to be distributed to these devices:
