VOX 2.0 for OS X: Resetting a stylish music player

Regular readers of "MakRadara" well aware of the VOX program which Coppertino efforts of the development team just six months ago was reborn from the ashes to become a kind "Winamp New Century". Even then, the player has drawn the attention of its compact size and orientation on audiogikov. Now, in the light exits the second incarnation of the project, which gained back its former popularity.

Immediately struck by the radical changes in the design of VOX. The main leitmotif of 2.0: stylish invisibility. Appearance of the program is almost devoid of color accents, the design has become the most flat and matte. Even the cover of the current track, you will see only when the window is inactive and folded to a minimum size (playlist and equalizer hidden). Important nuances I would mention "typography": fonts in the second "vox" I like definitely more.

As to the functional part of the VOX 2 interface, here the developers have worked more. Many times significantly simplified. For example, if before the volume slider, EQ button and a list of audio outputs were hidden in the buttons menu

Volume, Now it is a simple and convenient toolbar that appears when you hover the mouse cursor over the player window. There also moved playback mode button (Cycle and mixing).

Respect for individual developers redesigned browser library iTunes: now that it is part of the program - it should be comfortable. And this would have just something to clean up the buttons and drop-down menus that VOX 2.0 did.

The same procedure is carried out in a search engine. Now the results are not issued with a list of two categories, and the two lists - "songs and performers" and "albums".

Of the other "the-hood" chips in VOX 2.0 added gapeless-mode, convenient for continuous playback, such as multitrack dj-sets and classical concerts. Playlists can now be saved in two new formats: PLS and M3U. A "radio" got rid of the problems associated with switching between stations, and downloading large files with a bad connection.

Well, the "icing on the cake" - it joined the team Coppertino Dmitry Boldyrev, author MacAmp player and co-founder of the company Nullsoft, razrabotichka Winamp. ;) This is not only intriguing, but also gives us hope that this momentum will continue the development of the project. This means that very soon VOX again find something to surprise and attract the attention of new users.
