In Windows, you can read Mac disks using HFSExplorer

Free Open-Source HFSExplorer utility allows you to read discs formatted in HFS + format, which is used in the MacOSX and iPod. For the utility you need to install Java, if you for some reason do not have it yet. Help on installing and getting started can be found in Simple Help's guide.

The utility is really useful if you need to get data from the HFS + partition on the hard disk, recorded in cheese form (more on that later) or .dmg disk image format.

Potential users may be:

• Intel Macs users to run Windows via Boot Camp.
• Owners of iPod-s, formatted in HFS +, who would like to access the contents of a player from Windows.
• Members PearPC or similar Mac emulator that would like to see the contents of your virtual disks "with hand "(this will only work if the virtualization / emulation system records the files in the format of cheese, as it does PearPC).
• People who need to get files from the .dmg files from disks containing images in HFS + format.

The author writes that the program has been tested primarily on Windows XP SP2 x86 and Java 1.5.0 / 1.6.0, and a bit on Windows Vista x86 with Java 1.6.0.
