HRP-5P - humanoid robot developed by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) In Tokyo, which is able to carry out construction work. For example, as demonstrated in this video, HRP-5P (or informally, Herb) able to establish panels of drywall.
The robot uses a plurality of cameras and sensors which analyze the environment, detecting objects and obstacles. AI robot can plan their actions, depending on the situation and the tasks assigned to it.
The video HRP-5P gently picks up a sheet of drywall, places it on the wall and nailed to the joists with nails of the air gun.
And although the robot acts slowly and clumsily, the creators are confident that he will be able to fulfill their tasks much faster. It is expected that the HRP-5P and its modifications will serve as construction sites, shipyards and aircraft plants.
There is already a lot of robotsCapable of carrying out construction and assembly work, but they are, in fact, a large movable limbs on a fixed platform. Humanoid HRP-5P much more mobile and able to work in a place where it would be difficult to place a large industrial robot.
In addition, Japan is quite an acute problem of the aging population and declining birth rate. According to AIST professionals in the future HRP-5P will replace human in areas conjugated with physical labor, where there are labor shortages.
