What are the blood group diet
The idea that blood affects the body's ability to digest different types of food to cope with stress and respond to physical activity, came up with the American naturopath Peter D'Adamo (Dr. Peter D'Adamo).
Based on this, in 1996, D'Adamo has created a diet for people with different blood groups:
- Type O (I blood group). The diet should be high in protein from meat, fish, poultry. It is necessary to limit the amount of carbohydrates, grains and legumes. Recommendations are close to paleodiete.
- Type A (II blood group). People are well digested carbohydrates and bad - animal proteins and fats. You can eat plant foods: fruits, vegetables, legumes, cereals without gluten. Eliminate milk, meat, coffee and alcohol.
- Type B (III blood group). You can eat vegetables and fruit, jelly, most types of meat other than chicken. Eliminate wheat, corn, beans, tomatoes and some other products.
- Type AB (IV blood group). You can eat fruits and vegetables, meat, except red, seafood, milk, legumes and grains. Exclude beans, corn, beef, alcohol.
At the time, D'Adamo book became a bestseller, and the diet is still a lot of followers around the world.
What science says
There are many studies devoted to the blood group diet, but their quality leaves much to be desired. In 2013, scientists testedBlood type diets lack supporting evidence: a systematic review. 1415 studies of this diet. Trustworthy only one. And it did not confirm the effectiveness of the diet.
A large studyTheory behind popular blood-type diet debunked 1455 participants also showed no benefit offspring D'Adamo.
So whether or not to follow a diet for blood group
Basically, this diet is fairly healthy. Absolutely all D'Adamo directs avoid processed foods and simple carbohydrates, choose organic foods and taking supplements. That's enough to lose a little weight and improveABO Genotype, 'Blood-Type' Diet and Cardiometabolic Risk Factors health, though, regardless of blood group.
Blood group diet is as effective as a normal healthy diet.
However, sometimes it can hurt you. For example, if you want to build muscle and at the same time you have blood type II, have to give up meat and milk - foods rich in animal protein and essential for rapid muscle building. A vegetarians I to III or blood groups have no bad legumes - source vegetable protein.
In general, a diet as possible, but without fanaticism, focusing primarily on their goals and preferences.
