Books / / December 19, 2019
Layfhaker publishes a list of works that have been awarded the most prestigious award in the world of English literature. This book is worth reading for anyone who wants to understand the modern English prose.
Booker Prize (The Man Booker Prize) was established in 1969 to encourage the best English-language writers.
Previously, it was awarded to authors residing in one of the countries of the Commonwealth of Nations, Ireland, or Zimbabwe. Since 2014 operates only one important condition - the novel should be written and published in English.
The winner receives 50,000 pounds (3.6 million rubles). But, of course, not in money, and prestige. Books are carefully selected, and the works of the winners and participants of the short-list subsequently published all over the world. Some owners also got Booker Nobel Prize in literature - William Golding, John Maxwell Coetzee, Nadine Gordimer and Vidiadhar Naipaul.
