In this case, you do not have to worry that your photos and videos will occupy twice as much space - they will take into account as if you added them in only one of the services. But this applies only to files in original quality.

Any photos and videos that you have uploaded or download in the "Photo" to the changes coming into force, will remain untouched. If you are in the "Drive" is «Google Photos" folder, it will remain there, but cease to be automatically updated.
