Internet Explorer is not safe: hackers can download from your computer any files

information security expert John Paige found a new vulnerability of Internet Explorer. It allows hackers to gain access to any files from computers of victims using the MHT files that are opened by default in Microsoft browser.
The problem lies with the way IE handles MHT files. A hacker can access the data using a simple JavaScript function, which does not attract the user's attention.
To demonstrate the vulnerability Paige recorded a little video. The experiment was conducted on Internet Explorer 11 and the latest versions of Windows 7, Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
At the end of March 2019, John reported his finding at Microsoft, but the company does not consider the problem serious and correct errors "in future releases." Apparently, the mistake was removed on the back burner.
Despite the statement by Microsoft, this vulnerability can be very dangerous. If you want to protect yourself, remove Internet Explorer from your computer or remove any of MHT files.
