Developer Marcin Kozlowski found Android in a dangerous vulnerability. Thanks to her, hackers can crack your smartphone, if you just turn contaminated video. A bug present in Android 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0.
An attacker enough to implement in your code video, upload video to the Internet and wait for it someone downloads. If you include this video on your smartphone, the malicious code will be executed. So a hacker can steal your personal information, disable the phone down or even get on it full control.
If the video is in any way changed, the malicious code will not work. services like YouTube and various messengers first compressed video, resulting in the entire threat fizzles. But if the movie will be sent to you as a file - by mail or through messenger- then it gets to the device is still infected.
Google has released a patch that fixes the problem. It remains to wait until the update gets to all smartphones. In the meantime, it is better not download videos from the Internet.
