The new macOS Catalina completely stopped support for 32-bit applications. Before installing the upgrade, the system will warn you which programs no longer work. But you can check in advance to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Click the Apple logo in the top bar and select "About this Mac». In the window that opens, click the "Report on the system."
In the new window, go to the tab "Programs". If nothing is displayed, wait for a while: the system takes time to index everything. We are interested in the item "64 bit (Intel)». Click on the title to sort by this feature.
All programs from the list, who in this column indicates "No" to stop working during the transition to a new version of the system. Exceptions are programs in which the "developers" listed Apple - they are updated automatically when you install Catalina.
What to do with 32-bit applications?
If you do not want to stay on the old version of the OS, you have only three choices.
- Go to the developer's website and check whether an update for 64-bit systems.
- look alternativeIf the application is no longer updated creators.
- If you downloaded this app for a long time and do not even remember when it was used for the last time, just get rid of it.
