I try to choose engaging lesson plans that follow the communicative approach.
I’m a kind, empathetic teacher who seeks to provide a positive and encouraging English lesson. I try to choose engaging lesson plans that follow the communicative approach. There will be role-playing, problem solving, reading and listening, games and information gap activities. It is important for the student to communicate using the target language. There will be constant interaction and exposure to the language. Students should learn not to fear speaking. Learning a language is a matter of trial and error and mistakes are part of the learning process. I enjoy reading, camping and hiking, and mountain biking in my free time. I like books by Peter Mathiessen and Seraphim Rose. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to 31 countries. I lived in Poland for three years, where I taught English in Warsaw. I worked as a newspaper reporter for many years. I'm currently living in Texas. I have TESOL, TEFL, TESL
- Communicative Method: we use authentic materials like news articles and role-play to learn how to deal with a given situation.
- Grammar-Translation Method: we answer comprehension questions, and write essays.
- Direct Method: practice oral communication and correct pronunciation in English.
All lessons are fully customized to the student's needs and they are always interactive and fun.
I am passionate about helping others to improve their English skills, whether it's for business, travel, to improve academic performance or even just for fun. I am friendly and patient and I love meeting people from other countries. I ensure that my classes are specific to each student to ensure that they learn in the way that suits them best. For example, some students prefer a more structured approach using textbooks and some thrive on a more visual lesson, using videos, pictures and interactive activities.
I am comfortable teaching people of all ages and it is my goal to encourage the student to speak English as often as possible, as this is one of the core factors in helping them to improve their English and enable them to reach native speaker status.
I love to travel and I have been fortunate enough to get to 5 out of the 6 continents, so far! I enjoy reading when I get the chance, but I am a busy mom of 2, so time is not always available! I like to be outdoors and I enjoy watching sports and spending time with my family. One of my favorite things is watching movies at the cinema and I try to see all the latest releases. I am also passionate about eating out and trying new restaurants and different types of cuisine.
