GENERAL INFORMATION

The retraining program “Translator in the field of professional communication” is designed for persons specializing in international relations in the fields of politics, economics, management, communication, culture, sports.

Upon completion of training, a diploma of the established form from Moscow State University is issued for the assignment of additional qualification “Translator” in the field of professional communication", which gives the right to conduct professional activities as translator

University students receive a translator diploma only after receiving their first diploma of higher education.

THE TARGET AUDIENCE

The program "Translator in the field of professional communication" is intended for students (bachelor's, master's, specialist) and graduate students studying international relations, world politics, political science, economics, international management, international communication, as well as for working graduates and corporate clients specializing in the relevant areas.

Persons who have successfully passed testing and interviews (level B1+) are accepted for training.

For persons who wish to undergo retraining under this Program, but do not have a sufficient level of English language proficiency, a preparatory course is offered.

PRIMARY GOAL

Formation of translation competence among students in their professional field, consisting in the ability to carry out interlingual and intercultural communication in various fields of international relations, such as politics, economics, management, culture, communications, as well as in relevant scientific areas.

TASKS

• Improving the overall level of English language proficiency in oral and written forms.
• Improving monologue and dialogic speech skills.
• Improving regional competence.
• Development of intercultural competence for the purpose of implementing intercultural communication.
• Development of skills in various types of reading, annotation and summarizing; development of skills in professional use of dictionaries and databases.
• Mastering the terminology of the specialty.
• Development of skills in searching for translation (including terminological) equivalents.
• Formation of practical skills of professional (oral and written) translation.
• Knowledge of basic translation strategies and models.
• Development of speech culture of the Russian language in its functional diversity.
