To replace the usual photostream Apple has provided service called iCloud Photo Library. When enabled, all your photos and videos will be uploaded to the iCloud server, from where it is to access from any device to your Apple ID.
Now the service is in beta testing and will be released only in early 2015. Below, we will discuss whether they should use now.
Enable iCloud Photo Library or the library can be in iCloud Settings → Photo and Camera. You are immediately notified that all your photos and video are synchronized with the server, and if the standard 5 GB is not enough, the data will no longer be synchronized.
In contrast to the photostream, Mediatheque in iCloud can store an unlimited number of photos, photostream same was limited to just one thousand. Yet another advantage is that the continuous work between devices. You can start to edit photos on one and finish in another. Selected photos are also synchronized between devices.
The long-awaited photographic film, which was returned to
iOS 8.1 is available only when the library is off iCloud, which obviously does not give the latter benefits. After turning on the library will have new folder "Recently Deleted" and "Recently Added".In general, the media library iCloud - an advanced Photostream. And one of the major innovations include the optimization of the size of the photos on the device. This feature allows you to store photos on the device in a lower resolution to save space, while, on the server, they will be stored in the original.
On the one hand, this is a plus, as the original weigh much more, but on the other hand, it is obvious attempt to force us to buy extra space in iCloud, as the standard 5 GB will likely not enough. Actually, it's us and asked to do, if the photos on the device is greater than the space available in iCloud.
The rest of the Mediatheque iCloud is no different from the old tube photostream. As before, you can create public albums to share them with friends and browse photos by year, collections and location.
I passed with a media library included the last few weeks and did not see any advantage in it. After switching off the pictures are still synchronized with Photo Stream, and make sense to include this feature until its official release there in early 2015. However, if you can not wait to try it, it can be done in Preferences → Photo and Camera. But remember that in this case the folder disappears "of film."
