The goal of the program is to retrain personnel for federal, regional and municipal executive authorities in the field of tourism, professional public organizations, enterprises of the tourism industry and hotel business, educational organizations specializing in specialized tourism education.
The Faculty of Geography trains specialists in the field of tourism, based on what was developed at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov educational standard of higher professional education in the direction "Tourism".

Program objectives:
- To introduce modern trends in the development of the tourism and hotel markets of the Russian Federation, priority areas and types of tourism and recreational activities, key groups of consumers of tourism products and services, trends in hotel management business
- To introduce the regulatory framework for tourism, recreational and hotel activities in the Russian Federation Federation, government regulation, program-targeted method in the development of tourism, recreation and hotel industry
- To form an idea of the structure, dynamics and geographical features of the development of domestic and inbound tourism in the Russian Federation, their regional features.
- To form an idea of the features of the design, operation and management of hotel complexes.
- Introduce the basic principles of classification of hotel facilities.
- To form an idea and technology of organization and interaction of participants in the tourism market based on the cluster approach.
- To develop skills in organizational and project activities in the field of tourism and hotel business at the regional and municipal levels.
- To introduce modern information and communication technologies in the formation, promotion and implementation tourism products and hotel services on the Russian and international markets (GDS, ADS, CRM systems, branding and etc.)
As a result of training, the following competencies necessary for professional activities are formed: - the ability to use knowledge about the structure and characteristics of the functioning tourist and recreational complex of the Russian Federation when making management decisions on the development of domestic and inbound tourism at the federal, regional and municipal levels levels;
- ability to make strategic decisions and develop projects in the tourism and recreational sector on a cluster basis;
- readiness to solve practical problems in the formation, promotion and implementation of tourist routes, products and services in the field of domestic and inbound tourism;
- ability to apply and use modern information and communication technologies in practice for the formation, promotion and sale of tourism products and services in Russian and international markets.
A graduate of the professional retraining program in the direction of “Regional tourism and hotel complexes: from design to management” must:
-know: quantitative, structural and spatial features of the development of tourism and hotel business in the Russian Federation at the present stage; regulatory and policy documents in the field of tourism and hotel business; principles for developing projects in the tourism and recreational sector; organization of activities of enterprises operating in the field of tourism and hotel business; principles of classification of tourist infrastructure objects; the basics of the formation, promotion and sale of tourism products and services; information and communication technologies for the formation, promotion and sale of tourism products and services;
- be able to: make strategic decisions on tourism at the regional and municipal levels, develop regional program documents for tourism development, create tourist routes, Products & Services;
- possess: modern methods and technologies for collecting information about the resource potential of the territory, the formation, promotion and implementation of tourism and hotel products and services, design and management of tourist and recreational clusters, development of tourist routes, branding of territories and tourist and hotel products.

Failure to complete the curriculum is attendance of less than 50% of the total number of classes without good reason, failure to complete practical assignments in full, failure to complete the final qualifying work (project).
