The course is intended for students seeking to become familiar with modern process concepts software testing, as well as those wishing to organize and systematize existing knowledge and skills in the field software testing.
The course examines the evolution of the concept of testing as industrial software production technology matures. The necessary terms and definitions are introduced, using as a basis the glossary offered by ISTQB - the international an organization engaged in defining various principles for the development of the field of software testing, as well as certifying specialists in software testing.
A significant part of the course is devoted to comparing different models of the software development life cycle, as well as identifying and justifying the place of testing in each model.
The classification and detailing of levels is given (component testing, integration testing, system testing, acceptance testing, etc.) and types (functional testing, performance testing, reliability testing, etc.) of testing, as well as other classification characteristics (with and without code execution, various knowledge about the code structure, by changes, by type of test run and etc.).

When considering defects, various examples of defect life cycles and the structure of defect reports are analyzed.
Finally, the soft skills of a software tester are listed, including interpersonal skills, as well as the qualification requirements for an aspiring tester.
