This course is an expanded version of the well-known and popular St. Petersburg State University course “Chinese for Beginners”. For ease of completion and greater flexibility of learning, the course is divided into 5 steps, each of which will lead the student to mastery of the Chinese language at level A1-A2.

What awaits you in the course:

• vocabulary and hieroglyphics, including the order of strokes in writing hieroglyphs;
• grammar with detailed explanations and examples;
• examples of conversational phrases for learning;
• animated situational mini-dialogues, the purpose of which is to demonstrate how the studied material can be applied in speech;
• exercises of various types that students must complete independently in order to consolidate the material covered;
• various reading materials from the “This is Interesting” section will be provided in the form of text files, telling about the history of the language, the culture of China, the habits of the Chinese, etc.

This section will, among other things, present a large list of additional literature for those interested in China. The fifth course will cover the following grammatical topics: comparison with 有, additional element of duration, approximate quantity, 除了... 以外 “except ...”, complex element directions, rapid change of situations 一……就……, sentences with the preposition 把, gradual change of attribute (construction with the preposition 比), emphatic construction 连……也/都……, passive, 一边 …一边…, function word 地.
