Each of these services is remarkable. Both provide access to a wealth of music for quite a ridiculous price and may become transitional stage on the way to license music for a young pirate who sits inside each from U.S.
For some time I have used both services and is willing to share the benefits, drawbacks and personal experiences of each of them.
google Music
In this article we are going to compare not the Google Music, and his part - Google Music All Access, which provides access to all the music service for 170 rubles per month, or 49 hryvnia per month for Ukraine. That's what you get for the money:
- access to all the music in the Google Music (millions of songs)
- to download music to listen offline and it without the Internet
- the ability to download all the tracks from your PC or iTunes
- radio by artist, song, album,
- you can share your music with friends via Google+ (very uncomfortable)
Now more. If you have just started to move away from the life of a pirate, it is likely you have accumulated a large music library of music on your computer. Google Music allows you to import it (up to 20,000 tracks), to load it covers and prescribe the correct tags. And it does it for free, even without a subscription purchase. Thereafter, all music will be available when and on any device connected to Google Music.
For me personally, a great advantage is that all music can be downloaded for offline and use it, even without access to the Internet. With my horrible mobile Internet - is the main feature that I was looking for. Music is loaded very quickly and, of course, has all the tags and covers.
One of the main drawbacks is the appearance of an iOS application. It is made in classic Google style with cards and other pieces. Not to say that looks bad, but quite unusual and, for example, a swipe gesture to the right instead of the "Back" brings sidebar. To this I can not get used to this day.
Google Music The second disadvantage is that it does not have a client for Mac and PC, and can listen to music with just a browser, it is desirable, Chrome. However, there are third-party unofficial client for Mac Radiant PlayerWhich I use and which suits me more than full.
In this finished with disabilities and about Google Music I still have a good impression. For a small sum of money, you get access to a huge music library, you can beat only one service. And you know what.
iTunes Match (iTunes Radio)
Exit iTunes Radio, I was looking forward to a very long time. Another would be: absolutely free service, a huge selection of music, and even from Apple, which simply can not do something bad. But after some time I was disappointed in him. And the reason there was only one - advertising.
iTunes Radio On Windows - is hell. Not only is the level of advertising inserts volume higher than that of music (fucking psychologists marketers) so also when displaying video is minimized and the current program is set to full screen iTunes. In OS X, everything is a little bit better. but advertising still haunts me and I set out to get rid of it.
Despite the fact that I continued to use iTunes Radio, a special pleasure from that, I did not receive. Until then, until I decided to try iTunes Match. And with him the music service from Apple to a new level!
So what opportunities does iTunes Match:
- the ability to download your music in iTunes and have it accessible from all devices
- lack of advertising in iTunes Radio
That's all, but do need something else? But when you purchase a subscription to iTunes Match, I made a very big mistake. I thought that the subscription gives you access to a free download of songs from the iTunes, as well as implemented in Google Music.
However, iTunes Match only allows you to upload to the cloud and to license all of your music and remove commercials from iTunes Radio. And since radio from Apple magically picks up a really great music, that is enough.
Subscription costs $ 25 per year, which is considerably cheaper than in Google Music.
What to choose
I tell a banal thing, but will have to start from their own needs. If the main benefit for you is the ability to upload your tracks to the cloud, then choose iTunes Match. Despite the fact that Google Music also lets you do this, first the latter is more expensive, and Second, iTunes Match - this is a native service from Apple and other things being equal, he will always work it's better.
If you need to download your favorite music and listen to it offline, then the choice is obvious - Google Music. For me it is a basic requirement and the choice I made in favor of service from Google.
If you love radio, it's not so simple. After listening to the radio while both services, I must say that in fact, and that the proposed music just fine. However, again, other things being equal, I would recommend to choose iTunes Radio.
conclusion
I think that for such services is the future of the music industry. Buy music albums, perhaps, very comfortable, but also quite expensive, so not everyone can afford it. As for the subscription: $ 3-5 per month can afford each. Think of it as two cups of coffee. The more so that listening to music so it's really very convenient.
Very soon the Russian music market comes another giant strimingovy - Spotify. But when this happens is not clear, and after the arrival of the situation may drastically change. However, until Google Music and iTunes Match is the best choice for those who want to get away from the music service maximum.
What service do you use? Or you prefer the old fashioned way? :)
