Course “Mathematics for Data Analysis” - course 30,000 rub. from Yandex Workshop, training 4 months, date November 30, 2023.
Miscellaneous / / December 02, 2023
Interviews usually test knowledge of statistics and probability theory. And statistics are used in work: stat. significance, distributions, correlation - we use all this periodically. But in order to understand statistics well, that is, not just memorize them, but deeply understand them, you need to know and other areas of mathematics: combinatorics, probability theory, linear algebra, mathematics analysis. And if you are interested in developing in machine learning, mastering new and new tools for yourself, then you will definitely not be able to do without linal and matan. This is the base on which everything is built.
Free introductory lesson
You will learn which data analysis and data science tools each section of mathematics is needed to understand. You will go through a short interview simulation on the platform.
Linear algebra
Learn to use matrices, vectors, norms, determinants. You will be able to read symbols and operate with formulas. Learn why cosine distance is used to compare texts. You will understand the features of using linear algebra in data analysis.
Mathematical analysis
Understand function families and characteristics. Learn the practical meaning of derivative and integral. You will understand the gradient descent algorithm, which underlies neural networks and gradient boosting.
Applications of linear algebra in data analysis
You will understand how linear regression and singular value decomposition methods work. Learn how eigenvalues are related to PCA and SVD matrix decompositions and learn how to calculate them. Learn to reduce the dimensionality of big data and visualize it. Learn how to solve linear regression using gradient descent and gain a better understanding of how a neural network learns.
Probability theory and statistics
Learn how decisions are made based on statistical data. You will understand Bayes' theorem and other formulas of probability theory. Learn what an A/B test, confidence interval and bootstrap are.
Simulation of the math section of the interview
You will go through a simulation of the mathematical section of an interview for the position of an analyst or Data Science specialist in our simulator.
