Mythology. Summer lecture - course 3300 rub. from MIF, training 4 lectures, Date: November 29, 2023.
Miscellaneous / / December 02, 2023
What awaits you
Let's study the philosophy and logic of myths, their manifestations in advertising and art. We will find out whether there were “crocodiles” in Russian chronicles, what the name of the goddess of Maslenitsa was, and we will get acquainted with Romanian mythology (not only Dracula). Let us make sure that myths are so deeply rooted in our culture and our consciousness that they never disappear from view.
This course is not only about the myths themselves, but also about their influence on us, which is actually stronger than it seems.
The lecture hall is for you if:
- Do you want to listen to people who have dedicated their lives to one topic and are well versed in it?
- Love everything academic and historical :)
- Do you want to expand your horizons
- Love to learn new things and search for meanings
- Do you want to better understand works of art, cinema, literature?
Why study myths at all?
To understand the context
What conditions did our ancestors live under? What roles did men and women have? What did they believe, what did they fear, and why did they act the way they did? And how has the world changed? But he still changed. What about people?
To find a modern reflection
Myths have always inspired artists, sculptors, composers and writers. As the French writer Raymond Queneau said: “Every work of art is either an Iliad or an Odyssey.” From the Marvel universe, Guy Ritchie films and Netflix series to books and comics, mythological stories are relevant and explore contemporary issues.
To see connections
By studying the ancient world, you understand modern events. You hold threads that seem to pierce centuries. You see what things have not lost their value: love, hope, courage. And you understand yourself: in relationships with parents, living through trauma, fears and depression.
