History of Art of the Ancient World - course 42,500 rubles. from HSE, training 2 months, Date 1 October 2023.

The subject of the course is the fine arts of the Ancient World. You will get acquainted with the architecture of Ancient Greece (Knossos Palace, Temple of Apollo, Halicarnassus Mausoleum) and Ancient Rome (Colosseum, Trajan's Forum, Pantheon). During our classes we will look at Roman mosaics, the role of sculpture in the Greek temple, and get acquainted with ideas about cultural heroes in art different periods of Ancient Greece, we will learn the meaning of the term “Hellenism” and the problems of its interpretation, as well as the value system of Hellenistic culture.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

1. Understand the basic terms used in the study of art
2. Understand and highlight the stylistic features of monuments of each of the studied stages
3. Understand the specific features inherent in certain types of art
4. Reveal the connection between the formal-figurative structure of a work and the priority value orientations of the culture that created it
