The program is intended for those who are interested in improving their competence in the field of English and expanding professional opportunities through mastering translation skills in the professional field communications.
Students who successfully complete the proposed training program receive a diploma of additional education and another profession - the profession of a translator.
Admission requirements: Availability of higher or secondary vocational education
Thus, a graduate of a bachelor's or master's degree simultaneously becomes the holder of two diplomas. This allows you to feel more confident in the modern labor market and have additional documentary evidence of your high level of English language proficiency and be in demand as a specialist in various international organizations, fields international scientific and cultural cooperation, government structures dealing with foreign policy issues and international relations.
For students of the Faculty of History, this program gives a good chance to receive a diploma of additional education, comfortably combining this with studies in the main field of study.
Purpose of the program – to prepare a specialist capable of carrying out translation activities and promoting intercultural communication both within the framework of their direct professional interests and in the broader humanitarian sphere (history, art history, socio-political sphere, international relations, culture, general humanitarian topics, scientific activities in these areas).
The program provides:
- mastering the basics of English language theory,
- increasing the general level of practical English language proficiency,
- studying the theoretical foundations and specifics of different types of translation,
- mastering existing translation techniques and strategies,
- developing skills in written and oral translation from English into Russian and from Russian into English,
- expansion of regional knowledge (in particular, deepening knowledge of the history of English-speaking countries),
- improving speech culture, level of proficiency in the Russian literary language and acquiring skills in linguistic text analysis,
- improving skills in the professional use of dictionaries, reference materials, other auxiliary information tools and electronic resources for translation.
