In parallel with specialized modules in art and design (where teaching is conducted only in English) - program 1 year includes disciplines taught primarily in Russian and necessary for the development of basic academic and social skills:
*Systemic and critical thinking;
*Russian language and culture of speech;
*Teamwork and leadership;
*LIFE SAFETY FUNDAMENTALS;
*Physical Culture and sport;
*History of Russia, general history.
The education program is divided into 3 main sequential stages.
Stage 1: Exploration
This is the first phase of the educational process, the task of which is to involve the student in the specifics of creative activity. Several structured projects offered during this part of the course provide a meaningful appreciation of the theory and practice of contemporary design. Students develop basic research skills and also learn to work with contextual information. Students devote the last four weeks of this stage to more in-depth acquaintance and study of two areas of art and design (of your choice) - fashion design, communication design, 3D design, interior design and architecture or modern art.
Stage 2: Consolidation
By the beginning of the second semester, students make a choice in the field of design and art in which they would like to develop in further higher education programs - design clothing and textiles, communication design (graphic design and illustration), 3D design (industrial design, interior design and architecture), contemporary art and photography. At this stage, students become more deeply acquainted with the specifics of their chosen field. Much attention is paid to the development of research skills, independent work and evaluation of one’s activities.
Stage 3: Design phase
At this stage, the final project is completed. The project must be original, demonstrate the level of practical skills, research activities, the ability to independently formulate tasks and plan stages implementation of the work. The final stage of the project is its presentation at the final annual exhibition, usually scheduled for the end of June.
Teaching English within the discipline of this course lasts throughout the year and is based on advanced methods, taking into account the lexicological specifics of the design field. Particular attention is paid to the development of spoken language and the ability to correctly express one’s thoughts.
