Sometimes people do not want to take on a specific task, not because they are afraid of not cope with it. And because it is really afraid of the devastating criticism of their work.
I think many people have heard as a child something like: "You do not know how to draw people!" Or "What is this?! Unicorn? And like a rhino! "- and yet an infinite number of options. And after that many throwing started and never took up creative projects. After these statements the person has a phobia, which ultimately prevents him from doing what is really like.
David Kelley, founder of design firm IDEO, not only creates a design masterpiece, but also helps people unlock their creative potential. And in his speech at the TED conference, he shared his successful experience.
In the same speech, David mentions his conversation with a Canadian psychologist, Albert BanduraThat helps people overcome their phobias in 4 hours. This technique applies to fear criticism of their creative ideas.
Even the most hardened analyst (I have an analytical mind, creativity - not for me) is capable of performing. In the charts, tables, and an endless stream of numbers he can see the whole world. Is this not a manifestation of creativity? But one wrong word can break or permanently deprive a person the opportunity to create, expand its borders, to engage in what is really like to change the world, in the end.
Who are the judges? Those who were just passing, threw a fleeting glance and decided to express their opinions? Experts in the fact that they have decided to criticize?
Think carefully before you listen to the opinions of others. And think even better, before criticizing someone else's work.
