James Cameron's cult "The Abyss" will receive a 4K remaster

The official YouTube channel of 20th Century Studios has announced a 4K re-release of James Cameron's The Abyss. The film will have a limited theatrical release in the United States for just one night on December 6th. Afterwards it should appear online.

"The Abyss" is the fourth film directed by James Cameron. According to the plot of the film, a nuclear submarine crashes at great depths. The military is asking for help from specialists from an underwater research station operating near the accident site. Together with several intelligence officers, scientists will have to find out the possible cause of the tragedy and face the unknown.

The film stars Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Michael Biehn, Leo Burmester and Todd Graff.
