Apple has joined the global fight against coronavirus. Tim Cook has announced a mask that the company has developed specifically for healthcare professionals who are fighting COVID-19. It's called the Face Shield and consists of a forehead mount and a protective plastic shield. Due to the prefabricated design, such masks are universal and suitable for everyone; assembly takes no more than two minutes.
It is important that Face Shield is reusable: for reuse, it is enough to treat them with a solution of alcohol, bleach or hydrogen peroxide.
Tim Cook said that Apple plans to ship about a million of these shields every week. The company is now coordinating with the local government to help primarily the region where the situation with protective equipment is the worst, subsequently they hope to establish the supply of masks outside USA.
Almost simultaneously with the announcement of Apple, Nike also showed shields, which it has already begun to supply to hospitals - but so far only within the US state of Oregon.
Here is Nike's full-face shield, designed to defend against COVID-19.
So far, shields have been sent to Oregon Health & Science University. Nike plans to send PPE to health systems around its HQ, including Providence, Legacy Health Systems, Kaiser Permanente + others in OR. pic.twitter.com/g27ffqJS3h
