It's made of stone - literally a one-size-fits-all weapon.
Archaeologists discovered a huge hand ax during excavations at the site of Kurh in northern Saudi Arabia. It is tentatively established that it is more than 200,000 years old.
The length of the ancient instrument is 51.3 centimeters. It is made of basalt stone and is very durable. Judging by the remaining traces, it was used for logging. At the same time, scientists do not exclude other applications. Therefore, they plan to continue researching the unusual find.
The archaeological site of Kurkh is located approximately 20 kilometers from the modern city of Al-Ula. It is considered one of the most important historical monuments of the early Islamic periods and holds many secrets and cultural treasures.
Previously, traces of ancient buildings, mosques and markets were found here. Historians believe that it was once an ancient metropolis that began long before Islam. And its heyday probably occurred between 800-1100 AD.
