At the Netflix Geeked Week presentation, they showed an excerpt from the series “The Three-Body Problem,” a film adaptation of the science fiction trilogy “Memory of the Earth’s Past” by Chinese writer Liu Cixin.
This is a story about an alternate time of the Cultural Revolution in China. The country's government sends a signal into space to find extraterrestrial civilizations, and several decades later receives a response. But this only leads to a threat to the existence of humanity.
The show is being created by David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the showrunners of Game of Thrones. This will be their first project since the finale of the cult fantasy, released in the spring of 2019.
The main roles were played by Eiza Gonzalez (“Alita: Battle Angel”), Benedict Wong (“Spider-Man: No Way Home") and Liam Cunningham ("Game of Thrones»).
At the same time, the streaming service announced the postponement of the release. The Three-Body Problem will be released two months later than previously announced - March 21, 2024.
