Podcast “Listen, it’s simple”: what is showmanship, how it threatens relationships and how to protect them
Miscellaneous / / November 02, 2023
Let's look at the concept using the example of a couple of Hollywood stars.
Thanks to social networks, people's relationships are forced to be tested by publicity. It happens that one partner happily shares almost every step in stories and posts: kisses and quarrels, joy and tears. Another prefers to hide the secret from prying eyes. The tendency to expose one's personal life has a name - showmanship (or showman).
Such publicity can cause a couple a lot of discomfort and lead to sad consequences, as, for example, in the case of singer Taylor Swift and actor Tom Hiddleston. We talk about their failed romance and what simple rules will help avoid conflicts due to showmanship in the new issue. One of them, by the way, is to express your thoughts intelligibly, but not toxicly, and we have a separate episode about this - about assertiveness.
