YouTube begins to fight ad blockers around the world

Users from Russia will also be affected by the changes.
YouTube has begun to launch a campaign against ad blockers around the world. About it told to The Verge, YouTube communications manager Christopher Lawton.
First messages about banning adblock extensions started to appear back in the summer, but then banners demanding to turn off ad blocking appeared only for a small number of users as part of the experiment. Now the new policy has begun to apply to everyone.
Typically, users receive a warning that after a few videos, viewing the video will be blocked if the ad blocker is not turned off. In some cases, playback is blocked immediately, and even refreshing the page does not help. Users have no choice but to turn off adblock and watch ads - or pay for a YouTube Premium subscription.
Lawton noted that the use of ad blockers violates YouTube's terms of service. According to him, the presence of advertising allows the platform to support content creators and provide billions of users with access to their favorite videos.
It seems that the site only checks for the presence of adblock services, and not for the presence of monetization in the region. Users from Russia who use extensions to block ads should add the site to exceptions so that viewing is not interrupted due to banners.
