A film will be made based on “Smeshariki” with a script by Sergei Lukyanenko

At the in-person pitching defense of the Cinema Fund, Smeshariki studio presented first game project: the film “Space Excursion” with live actors. The screenwriter was Sergei Lukyanenko, who confessed his great love for this franchise.

In the story, Krosh and Hedgehog find a strange device that takes them into a computer game. In this game they are two boys on a spaceship in distress. Everything around them seems very familiar to them, and they try to understand what is going on.

The film will feature a combination of animated and live-action scenes. Director Andrei Marmontov (“Insomnia”) will be responsible for filming with live actors, and Ilya Maksimov (“Smeshariki”) will be responsible for the animation part.

The release is expected in the fall of 2026. The cast has not yet been confirmed, but the creators of the project see Maria Aronova, Maxim Lagashkin, Alexander Lykov, Alexander Robak and Sergei Burunov as the ideal cast for the “humanized” Smeshariki characters.
