Time magazine has compiled its traditional year-end list of the best inventions. It includes as many as 200 devices, technologies and innovations that change our lives. All of them are divided into two dozen categories, ranging from AI to transport. Many products are worthy of attention, but we tried to select the most interesting ones.

Artificial intelligence

• ChatGPT powered by GPT-4, OpenAI's game-changing technology. The chatbot can reason verbally, talk about complex concepts in simple language, pass exams as well as students, and even explain why a joke is funny.

• Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is a modern flip phone with a really useful external screen that allows you to quickly view your mail and notifications without being distracted by the applications themselves.

Design

• The Graphene Radiator is an eco-friendly virtual fireplace with a holographic flame that folds up and can heat up to 75°C using just 200W of power.

• Iambic Model T is a $550 sneaker that is made using photographs of feet and data from a special questionnaire. Using this information, AI algorithms create a unique plastic last, on the basis of which personalized leather sneakers are made.
• Arc is an innovative web browser with a vertical sidebar that has room for everything: tabs, notes, extensions, players and more.
• Sphere is a giant spherical screen-building, the height of which is 111.5 meters and a width of 157.3 meters. The entire outer surface is covered with 1.2 million LED modules the size of a hockey puck. Inside is a concert hall for 17 thousand people with another incredible curved screen measuring 111 by 157 meters and 167 thousand audio speakers.

• Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is the first laptop to feature dual OLED displays that can be used for a variety of tasks, paired with a separate keyboard.

Experimental developments

• NASA MOXIE is a small device on the Perseverance rover that can produce oxygen from the limited amount of carbon dioxide in the Martian atmosphere. The results are small, but sufficient to prove the technology works.
• Lenovo Rollable Laptop - a prototype laptop with a folding screen, partially hidden under the keyboard. One press and the display extends upward, increasing from 12.7 inches diagonally to 15.3 inches.

• Mythen is the first electric racing car capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than a second. To do this, he uses a vacuum fan, which presses the car against the asphalt, significantly reducing drag.

It can measure the accuracy, force, speed and technique of every strike - all in less than 250 milliseconds. The mobile app uses this data to create personalized learning experiences.

• Nike Aerogami - a jacket with tiny vents that open when you sweat and close when your body cools down. All thanks to the moisture-reactive film on the fabric.
• The Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 is the lightest marathon running shoe that's making waves in the sports world. In them, Ethiopian runner Tigst Assefa surpassed the world record by more than two minutes. It's all about the new and improved Lightstrike Pro foam, EnergyRods 2.0 rigidity technology and, of course, weight - 138 grams each. A pair is good for one marathon only and costs $500.

Robotics

• ClearSpace-1 is literally a space recovery drone for orbital debris, such as old satellites and rocket capsules. It grabs the target with robotic “claws” and falls into the atmosphere, burning up along with it.

• Lunar Excursion Vehicle 2 is a small spherical mini-all-terrain vehicle developed by Japanese toy manufacturer Tomy in collaboration with Sony. He is already flying to the moon as part of one of the Japanese missions.
• NASA OSIRIS-REx - a mission sent to the asteroid Bennu in 2016 and returned to Earth a capsule with samples of its soil. These samples could give scientists clues about how the planets in our system formed.

Transport
