What is a certificate of good conduct

A document called “certificate of the presence (absence) of a criminal record and (or) the fact of criminal prosecution or termination of criminal prosecution", as the name implies, shows whether a person has problems with the law on territory of the Russian Federation.

A criminal record occurs if a court has found a person guilty of committing a criminal offense and the verdict has entered into legal force. Why do you need a certificate of no criminal record?

Typically, paper is required in several cases:

• When applying for a job for some positions. This applies in particular to teachers and educators, doctors and trainerswho work with minors.
• Upon registration guardianship and trusteeship of children.
• When applying for a work permit, study permit, Residence permit abroad. Many countries want to see people who are clean before the law. But this does not mean that a criminal record will definitely become an obstacle. In what format is a police clearance certificate issued?

There are three options:

1. Electronic.
2. On paper.

How much does it cost to get a criminal record certificate?

It is given out free of charge. But for affixing an apostille you need to pay a state fee - 2.5 thousand rubles.

How long is a police clearance certificate valid?

The paper itself has no expiration date. It only shows the state of affairs on the date of issue. But the departments that require the document may have different views on this. Usually the certificate is valid for 1–3 months. But it's better to clarify.

Who can order a police clearance certificate

Usually people do it themselves. Parents, guardians and trustees can act on behalf of children. A person with a notary can also draw up a document for you. power of attorney, giving the right to such actions.

How to obtain a certificate of no criminal record

Electronic

Open "Public services». In the top panel, select the “Certificates and extracts” button, then in the drop-down list - “Certificate of no criminal record”. On the page that opens, click on the “Start” checkbox.

On the page “In what form do you need a certificate?” select the “Electronic Help” option.

Please indicate in whose name you are receiving the document.

On the next page, click “Proceed to Application.”

Confirm your passport details, your place of birth, contact phone number, email and registration addresses.

Please indicate if you have changed your last name.

Upload a photo or scan of your passport. You will need a home page, a registration page, and a marital status page.

Submit your application.

In paper form, including with an apostille

You can get help in three ways:

1. Submit an application and pick up the document at the nearest multifunctional center.
2. Do all this through the information center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
3. Submit an application through Gosuslugi and pick up a certificate at the information center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

If the third method is convenient for you, then follow the instructions above. You just need to choose a paper certificate instead of an electronic one. When affixing an apostille, you will have to pay the state fee during the process.

If you have chosen the MFC or Information Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, you need to have copies of the following pages of your passport with you: the main page, with registration, with marital status. How long does it take to get a police clearance certificate?

Up to 30 days. In the case of the MFC, it is worth adding to the period a few days necessary for transporting documents.
