Thing of the day: Snowbot S1 - like a robot vacuum, but for cleaning snow

It can be controlled using a gamepad or mobile app.
Hanyang Technology Company from Shenzhen demonstrated autonomous snowbot Snowbot S1. It is a small self-propelled vehicle with rubber tracks, powered by a built-in battery.
Three ultra-wideband radio beacons help him navigate the street in open spaces, which must be placed in a rectangular snow removal zone. This can be a local area or, for example, parking. The fourth beacon, fixed on its body, allows the robot to determine its location and follow the compiled route.
If the cleaning area has an irregular shape, the route can be set manually using the iOS or Android app, as with robot vacuum cleaner. In addition, fully manual control is provided using the included gamepad. For the safety of movement, the robot also has a LiDAR that allows it to detect obstacles on the way - in this case, it will give a sound signal.
Depending on whether the robot is traveling on an asphalt or gravel surface, the snow is first removed with a scraper or a rotating brush. The hard rubber auger then ejects the snow through a rotating chute - it can rotate 360º depending on the position of the robot.
Snow is thrown up to a distance of 3.6 meters, while the depth of the cover can reach 30 cm. The travel speed is automatically adjusted depending on the amount of snow. On a single charge, the Snowbot S1 battery can work for 1.5 hours, which will be enough for cleaning 140 square meters.
The entire installation weighs about 65 kg. The manufacturer notes that it practically does not require maintenance - only charging and periodic lubrication. While Snowbot S1 is in beta testing, those who wish can order a pre-release version of the robot for $ 1,999 (≈147,300 rubles) at the official website. After testing, the manufacturer will provide the final model free of charge.
