It has become better, but retained the price of the previous generation.
PocketBook presented a new version of the e-reader with a color screen - InkPad Color 3. Compared to the second version, the new product received an improved display and protection from moisture.
It uses a 7.8-inch Kaleido 3 screen that displays 4,096 colors - 50% more than the previous model. In color mode, the resolution is 939 × 702 pixels (density 150 DPI), in black and white - 1404 × 1872 pixels (density 300 DPI). The InkPad Color 2 had a color mode image density of 100 DPI, so color images should look less pixelated in Color 2. Touch input support and backlight temperature adjustment are retained. There is also automatic backlight adjustment.
The device can work with 25 file formats and can read books in 26 languages (including Russian) with the Text-to-Speech function. You can listen to audiobooks and texts with machine voice acting using Bluetooth headphones or through the reader’s speakers: there is no 3.5 mm jack on the case. USB-C is used to charge the 2,900 mAh battery.
The reader has passed IPX8 certification: that is, it will survive immersion in water to a depth of up to a meter for half an hour, and it is not afraid of splashes, even more so. The device did not pass dust protection tests.
The gadget weighs 270 grams and has dimensions of 134 × 189 × 7.9 mm. The manufacturer claims that it lies in the hand like a regular book. A single version will be available with 1/32 GB of memory without expandability.
Pre-orders for the PocketBook InkPad Color have already opened in Europe at a price of 319 euros (≈31,800 rubles). There is only one color available for order - gray-blue Stormy Sea, the release is expected in mid-November.
