Miscellaneous / / October 20, 2023
In Windows 11 Insider Preview build 25977 discovered ability to share Wi-Fi passwords using QR codes.
Modern versions of the OS have long made it possible to quickly recognize them in the corresponding section in the settings. Now the system generates a QR code for the selected Network, which allows you to connect a new device without entering any data at all.
We show it not only in Settings, but also when a user sets up a mobile hotspot to share a network connection.
Microsoft
To get the code, go to “Settings” → “Network and Internet” → “Wi-Fi” → “Manage known networks”. Then you need to select your Network and click “Wi-Fi Password”. After this, a window should appear with the password itself and a QR code.
It is not yet clear when this feature will roll out to public versions of Windows 11.
