The Gboard keyboard has learned to quickly change gender and skin color on all emoji with people
Miscellaneous / / October 19, 2023
Google presented Gboard keyboard update for Android. It allows you to change the skin tone and gender of all emoji with one touch of the screen, where such variations are available.
Previously, you had to change these settings for each emoji separately. It would take about 300 taps to change all the available symbols to suit your needs. Now, changing the settings for one changes them for all - in a matter of seconds.
Google cites the results of its survey of 2,000 volunteers. He showed that the ability to use emoji of different skin tones works to create a sense of community, pride and representation. But their use is not appropriate in every context (for example, in group chats), so it is also important to be able to disable them and use the standard yellow emoticons.
An update to Gboard for Android with the new feature has already begun rolling out, but it may take a few weeks for all users to have the option available.
