How to set up automatic removal of verification codes from Mail and Messages in iOS 17
Miscellaneous / / October 09, 2023
A real lifesaver for anyone who uses two-factor authentication.
Along with the "Expectation" And posters Contacts in iOS 17 has many subtle, but no less useful new features. One of these is the automatic removal of verification codes that sites and services send you by email or SMS when you log into your account.
Now iOS automatically recognizes and inserts one-time passwords not only from Messages, but also from Mail. Moreover, after entering they can also be automatically deleted.
Theoretically, when you first updates to iOS 17 receive and use any confirmation code, the system itself should prompt you to activate the automatic cleaning function.
If for some reason this did not happen or you accidentally refused, then at any time go to “Settings” and open the “Passwords” section.
Confirm your identity using Face ID or a PIN code, then go to “Password Settings” and turn on the “Automatic cleaning” toggle switch. Actually, everything is ready. Now after inserting, all one-time passwords will be deleted themselves.
Enabling this function will not affect security in any way, since immediately after use the codes become invalid, and even if someone sees them, they will still not be able to use them. But such cleaning will help not clutter your inbox, which is especially important if you actively use two-factor authentication.
