“This will be a win-win platform for both Samsung and the gaming industry.”
Samsung is set to introduce a cloud gaming service for mobile devices as it seeks new revenue streams from Galaxy users amid a stagnant mobile phone market. About it writes The Korea Economic Daily.
The publication cites industry sources in Seoul, according to which Samsung is already testing a beta version of the cloud gaming platform. The official announcement should take place this month.
The platform will allow Galaxy users to play games more easily, as the service will eliminate the need to download apps from Google Play and install them on their devices. All the load will go to remote servers, and users will only need good internet.
Samsung is already in talks with major game developers to launch various well-known titles on the platform. At the same time, the company is ready to offer this service to Galaxy owners for free, but for top games, of course, publishers will have to pay.
Samsung expects that such a platform will help expand its customer base, which currently numbers about a billion Galaxy smartphone users. “This will be a win-win platform for both Samsung and the gaming industry,” said a source in Seoul.
