The Cupertino newcomer was able to win only one round out of four.
The author of the YouTube channel PhoneBuff compared the strength of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphones. He always conducts his tests under the same conditions and using a robotic manipulator, which eliminates any random factors.
The phones went through four rounds - falling on the back panel, on a corner, on the screen and on a steel surface. And after the first test, both received noticeable damage. However, with the new product from the Cupertino company they turned out to be much more noticeable.
The second test (on the corner) tied the score. The titanium frame turned out to be stronger than the aluminum one. On the other hand, the fall had a worse impact on the rest of the iPhone - it shattered the back glass of the phone.
Falling with the screen facing down resulted in glass damage for both subjects. The fragments from their displays literally scattered to the sides.
The bonus round (falling on steel, not concrete) finally finished off the iPhone's coverage. The Samsung phone is better preserved.
The blogger summarized that the strength of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is almost at the same level. Both smartphones remained fully functional after all the tests. Even the cameras functioned.
However, the South Korean flagship is a little more reliable - it won two out of four rounds, one of which ended in a draw. As a result, the author rated it 39 points out of 40. The titanium iPhone received 37 points.
