How to easily replace the Finder icon in the OS X Mavericks

OS X, as well as any Apple product, designed and polished to the smallest detail, but some users handle and drag to change this or that element of the interface. Today I want to tell you how to modify the Finder icon in the standard, which we constantly see the dock.

1. Before you begin, download the desired icon you want to use instead of the standard Finder icons. It has to be in PNG format and have a size of 256 x 256 pixels.

2. Now we need to rename our icon. If an ordinary screen you have a Mac rename it finder.pngIf you are using a MacBook with Retina-display - in [email protected].

3. After that, click in the Finder ⇧⌘G (For call dialogue Go to Folder) And trying to drive in a line appears: /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/. Here we need to find the icon files that are used in the system at the moment.
4. find files finder.png and [email protected] and copy them to any folder as a backup (you will need them if you want to return it back).

5. Now, as you may have guessed, we need to replace our original prefabricated icons. Simply drag them into the folder and confirm the replacement (in this case will need to enter your administrator password).

6. We can only restart the Dock, for the changes to take effect. This is done here with the command: killall Dock.

The result is not long to wait and instead of native Finder icon in the Dock, you'll see a change (in my case pixelated standard icon).

If you for some reason want to return to the original icon of the Finder, all you need to do is to move it to a folder /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/ perezapusit and then dock the command described in the last paragraph.
