Pirate flag - symbol of the team Jobs

It is no secret that during the development of the first Macintosh, Steve Jobs called his team gang of pirates, and considered himself to be their captain. As we know, every band has its own symbol, the flag. This attribute has been and Jobs' team. Who was the author and has made this flag? What was depicted on it? These and other details about the symbol "gang Jobs", you will learn from this story.
Mac team held a regular meeting in the Carmel in January 1983, immediately after the Lisa computer. Steve Jobs at the beginning of his speech outlined the three points that would have set the tone and mood for conversation, inspire and lift the spirits of the team.
The topics were the following:
- True artists ship.
- It is better to be a pirate than to serve the Navy.
- Mac in a book in 1986.
Perhaps as a pirate, he was referring to the earliest members of the team, because by the time Mac team has become a large and bureaucratic. We started by having the most rebellious spirit, like Apple in the beginning, so Steve would like that we maintain this attitude, in spite of the fact that the team grew and became similar to the navy.
The number of employees is really growing very rapidly, so we again had to move to another, more spacious office. In August 1983, we moved into the building where I worked three years ago. Then there's Apple placed special engineering organization. But now this house, which moved more than 80 employees, dubbed "Division Macintosh».
The building was quite pleasant, like all Apple building, but we wanted to make it look as if he belongs to us. Steve Capps, a famous programmer, who joined us in January of the Lisa division, proposed the following idea: if the Mac team was a gang of pirates, we have to hang here for a pirate flag.
In just a few days before moving to a new office Capps bought a black cloth and sewed the flag from it. He asked Syuzon Keir white paint to draw a skull and crossbones in the center of the canvas. The final touch was the application of the Apple logo instead of one eye. We would like to flag flies above the building early in the morning on Monday, so it was necessary to set it late on Sunday.
Capps went several times to explore the roof of the new building, to assess the situation and watch the guards. He just wanted to place a flag as a curtain, but this option turned out to be impractical because of the unpredictable wind. After a little searching Capps found a long, thin metal pole lying among building materials scattered inside the building, and decided to use it as a flagpole.
Around 10 pm Sunday is the time to install a pirate flag. Capps went to the roof, and we were left to guard the street. He did not know how to fix the Jolly Roger, and took with him a great little tool. On the roof of Steve found a couple of long rusty nails with which he tried to fix the flag to the team he met Mac in the early morning.
We did not know about others, including Steve Jobs, will react on a pirate flag. However, Steve and almost all members of our division idea came to mind. It always makes me smile, coming to work in the morning.
Our flag proud developed over the building Bandley 3 about two months, and then suddenly disappeared. Team Lisa, with whom we had a friendly rivalry, decided it would be quite fun if they steal our flag. It seems that we even had a note from their representatives, where it was spoken about the possibility of redemption. Capps seriously assaulted units Front Lisa, because the flag was hiding at one of the secretaries.
Returning Jolly Roger developed over us more than a year, but one day he was gone again. To be honest, no one knew what happened to him. It is a pity, because this flag could be a valuable item in the museum of computer history.
