Telegram on iOS 17 now has reactions in video messages
Miscellaneous / / September 21, 2023
Just show your thumbs up to set off fireworks - or "goat" for party mode.
Telegram received support for one of the iOS 17 features - reactions in video recording mode. This technology recognizes the gestures that the user shows and triggers an animated effect. In Telegram, this can be seen when recording video messages (or “circles”).
While recording video, you can trigger special effects using the following gestures:
- Thumb up with one or two hands;
- Thumb down with one or two hands;
- Peace sign (index and middle fingers raised);
- “Goat” with one or two hands;
- Heart with two hands.
The system does not work perfectly, so sometimes gestures may not be recognized. During testing, there were especially many problems with the “thumbs down” gesture. If nothing works at all, check your effects settings. To do this, start recording a video message, pull the “Control Center” curtain down and make sure that the “Reactions” bar is active.

The Android version probably won't get this feature until it becomes available on the system itself.
