A “digital passport” will appear in Russia. It can be presented through State Services

It will not yet be possible to completely replace the paper original with it.
The President of Russia signed decree on equating digital identity documents, as well as “other documents issued by government agencies” to paper originals. Russians will be able to present digital analogues, including a passport, electronically through the Gosuslug mobile application.
The Ministry of Digital Development has been given three months to determine which documents can be presented in this format, in what specific cases, and how this information will be processed.
In the department emphasizedthat “State Services” will not replace paper identification documents. The mobile application can be used instead of IDs, extracts, certificates, certificates, passports - only in certain everyday cases. Which ones exactly - this question remains to be worked out.
Use of the application is entirely voluntary. Paper originals will retain their status.
