On the night of August 31, you can see the Blue Super Moon - the brightest full moon of the year
Miscellaneous / / August 24, 2023
We tell you what time the peak will occur.
Next Wednesday, August 30, to heaven rise The Blue Super Moon is the brightest full moon in 2023. At the same time, the astronomical phenomenon has nothing to do with color and in fact the satellite will acquire an orange tint. And the unusual name arose because of other reasons.
So, the Blue Moon is always the second full moon of the month (the first was on August 1). Usually there are 12 of them in a year, but sometimes, about once every two or three years, there is an “extra”, and then there are 13 of them. The next time this will happen is May 31, 2026.
The second part of the name also has a rationale. When the full moon reaches perigee (the closest point to the Earth), it seems to become much larger than usual and is already classified as a supermoon.
During the second August approach, our satellite will be at a distance of only 357,344 kilometers from Earth. It will reach its maximum point on August 31 at 4:35 am Moscow time. It remains to be hoped that at this time there will be cloudless weather and earthlings will be able to fully enjoy this rare phenomenon.
