Windows 11 August updates speed up SSDs, but break antivirus
Miscellaneous / / August 18, 2023
Windows 11 users are complaining about problems signing in to the Microsoft Defender app after downloading the August security updates.
The patches did fix the problems that slowed down the SSD drive, but deprived users of access to the built-in antivirus. When they try to sign in to the app, some of them get the "Unable to Sign in to Microsoft Defender" alert on their screen.
Individuals have also reported that they are unable to install updates at all. There are also complaints about the system freezing after loading them.
Apparently, the problems arise due to the Microsoft Defender and Windows 11 KB5029263 patches, which were released on August 8th.
Technical Support Representative confirmed reporters that the company is aware of the problem and will fix the antivirus in the near future. However, official comments from Microsoft itself have not yet been received.
