Stability AI introduced the chat bot Stable Chat - a free analogue of ChatGPT

Stability AI continues to expand its list of AI services. The company already has generative neural networks for illustrations based on text queries and sketches (Stable Diffusion And Stable Doodle respectively), but now it has decided to compete with OpeAI and its ChatGPT.

So far, this is only a test version based on the recently released Stable Beluga model. Anyone can try it out, but you will need to register or sign in with your Google account. Of the benefits: at the time of publication, the service does not block Russian IP addresses.

Before starting, a warning appears that the main purpose of the chatbot is to collect data to help improve models. All collected information will be studied by researchers, so users are asked not to share personal information - both their own and other people's.

The interface of Stable Chat is as simple as possible and looks like a regular dialog box in a messenger or social network. You can communicate with the chatbot in Russian, but he lacks understanding of set expressions and perceives the meaning of phrases literally. Judging by the bot's responses, it translates the user's request into English, gives an answer, and then translates it into Russian. Because of this, some of the wording is clumsy. If possible, it is better to use English for correspondence.

Currently, the chatbot cannot save previous conversations to understand the context. Moreover, when you refresh the page, even the correspondence from the last session disappears.

It seems that the creators have tried to make an ethical chatbot by adding a number of restrictions. So, for example, you can't force Stable Chat to write an erotic story for you. But since the bot is still in development, the authors warn that it may produce responses that users find offensive.
